Good Morning!
For
many people, the holiday's can be very emotional triggering memories of
loss, pain, or grief.
If
you find yourself feeling lonely or blue, know that you are not alone. If
you have suffered a loss that makes this holiday season especially
difficult, be kind and gentle with yourself. The most loving and wise
thing you can do is to honor yourself and your feelings and in turn, ask
for what you need.
It's
okay to admit that rather than going to a party, you'd rather snuggle
under a blanket and have yourself a good cry. Afterwards, you'll be better
for it.
Or,
maybe you know someone who is having a tough time this holiday season. Why
not reach out and let them know you care. It might just be the greatest
gift they receive. By reaching out and being of service to someone else,
you may find, that although your pain is certainly valid, others could be
suffering even more and in turn, your burdens could end up being lifted.
Another helpful suggestion is to take a look at your expectations for the
holidays. Are you putting pressure on yourself to be someone that you
aren't? Are you trying to live or perform under unrealistic expectations
(most likely put on by yourself)? By releasing these unrealistic
expectations you are free to create what you want this holiday season.
Less pressure means more possibility for a more enjoyable season.
Lastly, the truly wise person is the one who reaches out for help when
they need it. Don't be afraid to call in a professional. They are trained
to help and are certainly well-versed in the challenges of the holiday
season.
So,
my request of you this week is to be gentle with yourself and others. If
you need something ask for it. If you sense that someone you know is in
need, help them. Take a moment to stop and take a deep breath. Ask: What
do I need in this moment? Then let your heart tell you. Count your blessings
and know that you are not alone. Spirit is here loving you and guiding
you. The question is, are you letting it in?
Wishing you a week filled with kindness and giving,

Quote of the Week:
"Life
begets life. Energy creates energy. It is by spending oneself that we become
rich."
- Sarah Bernhardt
Question:
Are you being stingy or generous when
it comes to "spending yourself?" What could you do this week to become more
generous in the way that you share yourself with others or the world?
Affirmation:
"It feels wonderful to generously share myself
with others. As I do so, I feel excited and energized! What's even better is
that it comes back to me ten-fold."

One of the most
gratifying parts of writing Monday Morning Coach is hearing from you.
Knowing that my writing resonates with you and addressing things that matter
most to you is what inspires me to keep writing. One reader recently wrote .
. .
Dear Coach Carole,
What can I do to get
out of this end-of-the-year, holiday's-are-approaching funk. I don't feel
like being productive?
- Bored in Boston
Dear Bored,
My first question to you is, just how important is it that you be
productive? Obviously there are things on your task list that must be done,
but what if you gave yourself a bit of a break? In allowing yourself to BE
more and DO less, you might find a new sense of refreshment (which in turn
will help you to be more productive).
My second question to you is what is your deepest intention for this holiday
season? If you were to identify what matters to you the most, you can
become very intentional in what you do and don’t commit to doing.
Subsequently, you might find more joy and satisfaction in your days and a
little less boredom. Remember, it’s up to you to decide how you want to
experience the holidays. You can do what you always do and get more of the
same or you can try something different. The choice is yours.
What topics would you like to see addressed in upcoming issues of
Monday Morning Coach? Do you have a specific question that you'd like to
ask?
Don’t be shy. Are you
pondering a question that you think may be unique to you? I assure you, there are
others asking the same question.

Focus on the Good Stuff:
The Power of Appreciation (Hardcover)
by Mike Robbins
(Author)
Robbins, a motivational speaker and
professional coach explores the power of positive thinking and the art of
appreciation. Like other self-help titles, such as The Secret, Robbins
writes that like attracts like, and to get what we want in life we must
focus on what we want (rather than what we don't want). Robbins explains how
the simple act of appreciation can change our lives.
