Have you ever noticed that often the littlest things in life bring
you the greatest pleasure?
The other day I wrote in my journal how excited I was about a new
purple pen that I found at Office Max. I wrote how, in every way,
my pen was perfect: the purple ink, the way it felt in my hand, and
even the attractive design.
I know, you probably think how childish can someone be to derive so
much pleasure from a silly purple pen? But I say, why not? The fact
that you stop to take a moment to notice is what really matters.
Whether its a sandy beach in Mexico or a delicious mouthful of
your favorite food, being in the moment and noticing what delights
you only proves how blessed you are with a feeling of joy and
Living your life at the speed of sound doesnt leave you with much
opportunity to notice the little (and big) things that bring you
joy. But slowing down, and taking a moment to look at your life
from a new perspective, might just change the way you live and
experience the reality of your life.
I dare you to take a deep breath and look around you. Notice that

What are you noticing as you do this? Can you sense a shift in your
perspective and perhaps a softening in your body and your presence
in the room? What would happen if you were able to bring your new
sense of appreciation into the rest of your day, your week, your
I challenge you to slow down this week and smell the roses. Take
a moment each and every day to stop, breathe, and soften your
focus. Let your breath and your soul loosen the tense fibers of
your being, creating more space in your body and mind, bringing
with it a sense of peace, color, and joy.
Be gentle with yourself. It takes time and practice shifting from
living in overdrive to cruise control. A little dose of humor can
help and so does asking Spirit to guide you. Remember, the natural
essence of your soul is one of peace and calm. The ability to live
from a place of tranquility is not about learning something new,
but simply remembering who you really are. And by the way, who you
really are is amazing!
Wishing you a week of simple pleasure and lots of joy,
