So how did you do with
taking things at a turtle's pace this past week? I enjoyed the process
of slowing down and finding a different rhythm.
I do find it ironic
that at the same time I was talking about slowing down, my computer blew
up and I am now gifted with the opportunity to be off my computer for a
few days. Somehow, that seems like a blessing to me.
Also, in reviewing
my week I can see that if I want to continue to honor my intention to
slow down, that I might have to clear some things off my plate. I trust
that as difficult as that might be, my life and my sanity will be better
So on that note, I will
keep this brief. Please drop me a line
let me know how it's going. Please forgive me if it takes me a few days
to respond, remember me and my computer are slowing down and taking it
"I just wanted to share
how much last week's Monday Morning Coach meant to me. I am 11 weeks
pregnant and at my last check up, the doctor told me that my blood pressure
was a little elevated. My mother's advice was, "Slow down!" But in today's
world it's hard to stop and enjoy the day-to-day living, with work, traffic,
and the chores of a home. Thank you so much for writing that article and
helping me to remember to slow down!"

The Hungry Ocean: A Swordboat
Captain's Journey (Paperback)
- from Amazon.com reviews
Linda Greenlaw, the world's only female swordfish boat
captain, isn't flattered when people insist on calling her a fisherwoman.
"I am a woman. I am a fisherman... I am not a fisherwoman, fisherlady, or
fishergirl. If anything else, I am a thirty-seven-year-old tomboy. It's a
word I have never outgrown."
Greenlaw also happens to be one of the most successful fishermen in the
Grand Banks commercial fleet, though until the publication of Sebastian
Junger's, The Perfect Storm, nobody cared. Greenlaw's boat, the
Hannah Boden, was the sister ship to the doomed Andrea Gail,
which disappeared in the mother of all storms in 1991 and became the focus
of Junger's book.
The Hungry Ocean,
Greenlaw's account of a month long
swordfishing trip over 1,000 nautical miles out to sea, tells the
story of what happens when things go right--proving, in the process, that
every successful voyage is a study in narrowly averted disaster.
